A 'not to miss' event in August is the Coventry Car Day that will take place on August 15. This is being organised by the Coventry Transport Museum and the aim is to bring together up to 150 Coventry-built cars to form a spectacular celebration of the city’s unique motoring heritage.

It is hoped that every Coventry marque will be represented and the cars will be parked up on display throughout the Saturday at three locations in the city centre - Millennium Place, Broadgate and Ironmonger Square.  The Jaguar Heritage Trust will be bringing along a selection of Jaguars and other models from all Jaguar's predecessor marques - Daimler, Lanchester, Swallow and SS - that are part of its extensive vehicle collection.  The preliminary line-up will include a 1907 Daimler TP35 open tourer, a 1929 Austin Seven Swallow saloon, 1933 SS1 Tourer, a pre-war Coventry-built Lanchester and a 1955 Daimler Sportsman.  In addition to these models, there will be a fine display of Jaguars covering six decades including the very last Coventry built model, a 2005 Jaguar Super V8 Portfolio.

There will also be an optional parade drive into Coventry on the day, departing from Coombe Abbey at 9.15am. If you have a suitable Coventry built car and would like to take part in this unique event please register your interest by e-mailing details of your vehicle including make, model and year, along with your full contact details, to Clive Skelhon at the Coventry Transport Museum -

A press call was held to launch this event at Coombe Abbey on July 23 which featured a small selection of the cars that will be taking part on the day - including the Trust's beautiful 1953 XK 120 open two seater pictured here with Gary Hall, Coventry Culture Director.
